Masters Classes

Master Classes, designed to provide ongoing training for more experienced lawyers, are offered approximately once a quarter.  Most master classes are two to three hours long and are taught in the state office training room.  Our teleconferencing capabilities allow lawyers on the West Slope to participate in these trainings from the Grand Junction regional office.  Past master classes have featured speakers on capital defense; storytelling; defending false confession cases; defending eyewitness identification cases; defending against drug recognition opinion testimony by government witnesses; and building trusting, positive, professional relationships with clients who suffer from personality disorders or other forms of mental illness. At least one master class per year specifically addresses appellate criminal defense. Master classes are open to anyone in the system.
